About Archana

Archana Kumar is the global chief operating officer for Northern Trust Asset Management. She is a member of the Asset Management Executive Group with oversight of strategy, operations, data and digital efforts, and the continued development of a strong global control and enablement environment. Archana also leads the firm’s strategic planning efforts, enabling strategic partnerships and M&A activity.

With over two decades of experience in financial services and healthcare, Archana joined Northern Trust in 2010. Previously, Archana served as the head of corporate strategy and chief of staff to the CEO of Northern Trust. During her tenure within corporate strategy, she was a guiding force behind a number of key initiatives — driving growth and adding capabilities through successful technology-focused acquisitions. Archana has also served as the chief financial officer for Northern Trust Wealth Management and Asset Management. Prior to joining Northern Trust, Archana served in a variety of leadership roles at General Electric and HSBC.

Archana serves on the board of the Chicago Public Library Foundation as the treasurer. She has also served on the board of directors for the Noble Network of Charter Schools and the Noble Network Educational Foundation Board. She was also a key member of CFA Institute DE&I working group that launched the code in 2022. At Northern Trust, Archana previously served as a co-chair of the North America Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Council.

Archana received an MBA from the University of Maryland, College Park and a bachelor’s degree in management from Middle East Technical University.
