Biography
About Joe
Joseph Tanious is chief investment strategist, North America for Northern Trust Asset Management. He is responsible for developing and communicating the firm’s investment outlook across asset classes as well as producing investment analysis and thought leadership for the broader marketplace globally. To build out economic and market views, Joe regularly collaborates with the firm’s investment teams in equities, fixed income, multi-asset and alternatives.
Joe has over 20 years of investment management industry experience, specializing in investment strategy, portfolio construction and sales. Before joining Northern Trust, Joe held several leadership positions at Bessemer Trust, most recently serving as managing director and head of portfolio strategy and construction. Previously, he was at J.P. Morgan Asset Management where he served as global market strategist, and prior to that he worked in investment banking at J.P. Morgan Co. Earlier in his career, Joe served as regional director of institutional sales at Wells Fargo Asset Management.
Joe earned an MBA in finance and economics from Columbia Business School, where he was awarded the Robert A. Toigo Foundation Fellowship, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Irvine. He is also a CFA® charterholder and holds FINRA Series 7, 24 and 63 licenses. Additionally, Joe frequently has been quoted in financial publications including the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times, and he has appeared as a guest on Bloomberg TV and CNBC.
