Timothy Johnson is the head of portfolio solutions and member of the global fixed income team at Northern Trust Asset Management. In this capacity, Timothy heads three key groups within global fixed income: the passive/index business, portfolio construction and quantitative research. Timothy is also a member of the fixed income strategy committee, a group that formulates the fixed income platform’s strategic macroeconomic and investment themes that in turn informs overall strategy, risk budgeting and portfolio construction across all fixed income portfolios. In addition, Timothy is a senior fixed income portfolio manager for several diversified fixed income portfolios and multi-asset class tactical strategies.

Prior to Northern Trust, Timothy led various portfolio management teams at BNP Paribas Asset Management, and held senior portfolio management positions at BlackRock and De Nederlandsche Bank. He also held various management and analyst positions in the markets group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Timothy earned an MBA in finance from the University of Maryland, a Master of Public Policy from Duke University, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Maryland. He chairs the board of the Hester Street Collaborative, an urban planning, design and development nonprofit that works to ensure neighborhoods are shaped by the people who live in them. It offers planning, design and community development technical assistance to community-based organizations, government and other agencies in an effort to foster equitable, sustainable and resilient neighborhoods and cities.
